The Financial Times feature highlights the contrast between Wolterton’s Palladian architecture and the raw, irreverent character of the two exhibitions — Phyllida Barlow: Disruptor and Daisy Parris: Fist Full of Dreams. Grady describes Barlow’s “punky, irreverent spirit”, with more than 70 works juxtaposed against the decorative interiors of the Hall, while Daisy Parris “challenges Wolterton’s splendour” with a visceral body of work responding to the estate and its weathered outbuildings.
Together, the exhibitions place two very different contemporary practices in direct dialogue with Wolterton’s architecture, history and landscape.
